Virginiatown, Ontario on November 21, 2009
I often walk down to the dock in late afternoon. That day, November 21st, I could see a pinky-orangish-purple tinge to the sky as I got closer.
I couldn't believe my own eyes when I looked out towards the island.
The colours were mesmerizing. I started taking pictures right away.
Then the whole sky and water turned orange. I was probably orange too. I didn't notice, way too busy taking pictures with problem batteries, hoping they would turn out.
I was pretty happy with the results. Not all of them turned out, but the majority did.
Turn one way, it's pink. Turn another way, it's purple. Straight at the island, was orange.
I was taken away by the water too. It was a perfectly still afternoon. It was only around 5 pm but getting dark quickly. The water rippled slightly, changing colours from orange to purple.
The bush surrounding the lake was dark in contrast to the colours in the sky above it.
The layers of colours are pronounced in some of the pictures. A painters dream.
The sky was saying something that afternoon.
